Units: Ruler & Vault
Features

Everything Units does today

This page lists only what is in the current version. Planned features are marked as coming and are not available yet.

Looks like a ruler

On your home screen it is a gray ruler called Units, and it opens to a working on-screen ruler in mm, cm and inches. The vault is behind Settings, then About.

Pattern vaults

Draw a shape on a 5 by 5 grid. Each pattern opens its own vault. A pattern that has never been used simply asks if you want to create one.

No vault list

The unlock screen never shows how many vaults exist or what they are called. Only the person who knows a pattern knows its vault is there.

No recovery, on purpose

There is no recovery phrase, no reset email and no back door. If you forget your pattern, the vault cannot be opened by anyone, including us. That is the point.

Emergency patternPro

For when someone forces you to open the app. Draw it and only the vault you chose opens; every other vault is erased on the spot.

Secure camera

Take photos and videos inside the vault. They go straight into encrypted storage and never touch your camera roll.

Import and clean up

Bring in photos and videos from Photos and delete the originals in one step, or add documents from the Files app.

Private notes

Write notes inside a vault, or bring one in from Apple Notes with Share, then Send a Copy.

Lock on leave

Switch apps or lock your phone and the vault closes. The app switcher shows the ruler, not your photos.

No account, no server

There is nothing to sign up for and no server to break into. Your files and keys exist only on your iPhone.

Encrypted iCloud backup, shared vaults, syncComing

Not in version 1. We will list them here only when they ship.
